The Crunch Berry Run begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, starting and ending at NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will be covered in environmentally-friendly colored powder as you run or walk the route, with fun surprises all along the way!
Go as far as you’d like on the 5k route. You may want to walk a mile, jog the full 5K, or anything in-between. Great! You can turn around on the route whenever you’d like. This fun run/walk is not timed and is appropriate for people of all ages and athletic abilities.
The party continues after crossing the finish line at NewBo City Market until 11:00 AM with music, family-friendly activities, and of course, Crunch Berries!
The Crunch Berry Run is a fundraiser for Murals & More. All proceeds go to support public art in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Stop in to RAYGUN anytime during regular business hours any time between Monday, September 23, and Friday, September 27, to pick up everything you’ll need for The Crunch Berry Run. Your race packet will include your event wristband (required for event entry) and some other giveaways. You’ll also pick-up any other merch you ordered with your registration, like the T-shirt.

The program begins at 9:00 AM. Gather in the front lawn of the NewBo City Market for the festivities to begin. The program will be led by our official Party Cap’ns, Eric and Clare from Z102.9, who will lead us through a color throw, followed by a performance by our featured musical artist!

Run/walk begins
The run/walk will leave from NewBo City Market around 9:20 AM. Those running will start in the front, with those walking right behind them. You can run or walk as far as you would like, for a maximum total distance of up to approximately a 5K (just over 3 miles). The route ends right back at NewBo City Market.
Until 11:00 AM
The fun continues!
Who’s hungry for some Crunch Berries? Dig in to a bowl of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berry Cereal after you’ve crossed the finish line. Look forward to music, art, sweet treats, a photo op with Cap’n Crunch himself, and other family-friendly activities like face painting and giant puzzles.
Route Map
The route starts and ends at NewBo City Market. To begin, we’ll head south on 3rd St SE toward 16th Ave. The route turns onto 13th Ave SE toward 2nd St SE, then down 2nd St SE all the way to the end of the cul-de-sac. After turning around at the end of 2nd St SE, we’ll cross the river on the 16th Ave Bridge. From there, the route connects with the Cedar River Trail, all the way to the entrance of Mt. Trashmore. Enjoy a lap around the scenic walking trail at the base of Mt. Trashmore – the route does not go up Mt. Trashmore – before heading back to NewBo City Market along the same route.
Going through the entire route will take you approximately 3 miles, just under a 5K. Volunteers and signage will direct you along the way, but remember, you may turn around at any point to go the distance that is right for you. The route is very flat.
Restrooms will be available at NewBo City Market and at the base of Mt. Trashmore.
Water stations will be available at various spots throughout the route.
Things to Know
Each registration packet will include the event wristband, sunglasses, and materials from our generous sponsors! The wristband is the only thing required to get into the event on Saturday.
Packet pickup will take place at Raygun any time the week before the event, starting Mon, Sept 23, through Fri, Sept 27, during their regular business hours.

If you are unable to attend packet pickup on Friday, please plan to arrive at the event between 7:30 and 8:30 AM on Saturday to get your event gear. Look for the yellow information tent at NewBo City Market.
There are a few parking lots around NewBo City Market. Recommended parking is Lot 44 at the intersection of 2nd St SE & 11th Ave SE. There is also some parking available east of NewBo City Market (enter off 12th Ave SE).
Make your way to NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids before 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Wear your event wristband (required), event t-shirt or a white t-shirt, and/or clothing you are okay with potentially being stained from the colored powder. The colored powder may be difficult to remove. Don’t bring anything with you that you don’t want to risk potentially coming in contact with colored powder, which may stain certain types of fabrics.

Nope! This event is designed to be a fun, interactive run/walk, so there will be no official race clock or timer. Have fun! Those who want to track their time are encouraged to do so themselves. There will be no awards or results kept of participant’s time.
Yes! Children are welcome. Children age four and under may accompany a paid adult at no additional charge, or they can register to get the goodies in the registration packet. A non-registered child will not receive a participant packet. Children age five and above must register. Children may be in a stroller or wagon accompanied by an adult, just remember anything you take along the course will be doused in color!
The event will take place rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, we may be forced to cancel the event. The indoor area of NewBo City Market will be available as an emergency shelter in the event of sever weather.
The color used in this event is water soluble and environmentally friendly. The color may stain fabrics and may require multiple washes to remove. It may also take a couple washes to remove all the colored powder from skin and hair. Wear your race t-shirt for the event and other clothes that you are okay with potentially being stained by the colored powder.
The short answer is yes, but only if you feel very, very confident they will do well in this environment. If you are unsure, please leave them at home. Please also consider that your pet will encounter the colored powder. We will be instructing our volunteers to avoid intentionally dousing pets with the colored powder, but it will certainly be on and around them since the colored powder will be sprayed at you.
You may register to join the fun until the start of the event. Register early for the best pricing and to order merch, like the event t-shirt and tote bag!
Registration may be canceled on or before 8/31/2024 and a refund of the registration cost (minus event registration processing fees) will be issued to the original method of payment. There is no refund for registration cancellation after 8/31/2024.

I recognize the risks involved in any athletic event and hereby waive any claims I may have that are in any way associated with my participation in The Crunch Berry Run (“Event”), or the participation of any minor child under my care or guardianship (“Minor”) who will be participating in the event. I further agree, on behalf of myself and any Minor, to release, indemnify and hold harmless Murals & More, the City of Cedar Rapids, any Event sponsor, and any other party providing activities or support (whether compensated for of volunteered) for the Event, as well as any of their board members, directors, officers, employees or agents (each an “Indemnified Party”), from any and all injuries, liabilities, claims, damages or expenses, related to, or arising from participating in the Event. I further hereby certify, on behalf of myself and each Minor, that I have full knowledge of the risks involved in this event and each of us are physically fit to participate. If, however, as a result of participating in the Event, either myself or a Minor receives medical attention, I hereby give my consent to authorized medical personnel associated with the Event to provide such medical care as is deemed necessary by such medical personnel. I further acknowledge and agree to allow photographs and videos of myself and any minor to be taken by Murals & More or its associated partners during the Event, and to allow such photographs and video to be used for the promotion of the Event. Force Majeure. Murals & More shall not be liable for delay or failure of performance with respect to this agreement cause by an act of God, action by any governmental or quasi-governmental entity, fire, flood, insurrection, riot, explosion, embargo, terrorist attacks, strikes whether legal or illegal, labor or material shortage, transportation interruption of any kind, work slowdown, or any condition beyond the control of Murals & More. In such event, Murals & More shall be entitled to retain all fees.
