Meet Hawkeye Football Players at The Crunch Berry Run

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – University of Iowa Hawkeye football players Cade McNamara, Kaleb Johnson, Xavier Nwankpa, Connor Colby, and Quinn Schulte will be making a guest appearance at The Crunch Berry Run, beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, at NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids.

The Crunch Berry Run, sponsored by Cap’n Crunch, is a noncompetitive color run/walk that is fun for the whole family and full of surprises, like interactive art, music, llamas, and now an appearance by Iowa Hawkeye Football players!

The Hawkeye players will serve as honorary Color Cap’ns to kickoff The Crunch Berry Run. Then, expect to be on the receiving end of a Hawkeye color throw, as the players will be stationed along the route to douse you with color as you pass by.

The Iowa Hawkeye Football athletes are sponsored in their appearance by Riverside Casino & Golf Resort through their Swarm partnership.

The main stage at NewBo City Market will be led by emcees Eric Hanson and Clare Duffy of Z102.9’s The Morning Scramble, featuring a performance by The Blake Shaw Quartet.

Additional musical artists include the Iowa Accordion Club, the local DJ Tilly, an ensemble by Violinist Mira Gibbons, and upbeat rhythms from the Fun Drummin’ group representing the Iowa Music & Arts Association.

Beyond music, the event will feature an official mayoral proclamation of Crunch Berry Day, an interactive art experience led by the Farmhouse Art Collective, llama-petting with Prairie Patch Farm, a dunk tank, 319 Jeeps Club, a photo opportunity with Cap’n Crunch, a juggler, and more. Waiting at the finish line will be bowls of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berry Cereal with milk from Dan and Debbie’s Creamery. Participants will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items donated by local businesses and artists.

There is something for everyone to enjoy as you make your way through the event at your own pace. And remember – you can turn around at any point along the route to go the distance that is right for you. Plus, kids ages 4 and under are free.

All proceeds from this event support Murals & More’s mission to cultivate public art in Cedar Rapids. A full list of sponsors and event partners is available at the event website.
