Cedar Rapids, Iowa—Grab a spoon, pull out some sneakers, and get ready to celebrate Cedar Rapids’ favorite colorful cereal. Murals & More, a local nonprofit, invites you to join The Crunch Berry Run, sponsored by Cap’n Crunch®, a colorful run/walk happening Saturday, September 16, 2023, at NewBo City Market. All proceeds support Murals & More’s mission to create public art in Cedar Rapids.

Inspired by the colors of Cedar Rapids’ world-famous Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries®, this is not your typical 5K. The event is family-friendly and noncompetitive, meaning there’s no race timer. As a welcoming event to all ages and abilities, the out-and-back route allows people to go the distance that is right for them. That could mean walking a mile, jogging the full 5K, or anything in-between. Crunch Berries® will be waiting at the finish line.

The Crunch Berry Run includes interactive art, music, a photo opportunity with Cap’n Crunch, and bold environmentally-friendly colors throughout the event. Party Cap’ns Clare Duffy and Eric Hanson of Z102.9’s The Morning Scramble will lead the party as emcees. The event features a main stage musical performance, plus a special Crunch Berry Day official proclamation from Cedar Rapids Mayor’s office.

Signing up for The Crunch Berry Run is one way of supporting the work done by local nonprofit Murals & More to enhance the vibrancy of Cedar Rapids through public art.

Murals & More has three projects planned for this year, including supporting Orchestra Iowa’s interactive musical sculpture The Sound Wave, unveiled June 3; a recently completed mural at The Arc of East Central Iowa called Friendship Garden; and a future mural at Sacred Cow Tavern.

Sign up now for early pricing through July 31 of only $20 per person. Young children ages four and under attend for free. Registration packets include sunglasses to wear during the event. T-shirts and tote bags also are available for sale.
